Birth Doula Services

Initial Interview
The initial interview is to determine your expectations of me and my expectations of you. It will also help to determine our compatibility with one another. I will present your family with a resource guide containing information on the process of labor, writing a birth plan, and postpartum issues.

2 Prenatal Visits
Visit #1: The purpose of this visit is to practice working together as a team through a labor rehearsal, discuss your birth plan and finalize arrangements such as when you will be expecting me to arrive and where certain items for laboring at home are located. It will also educate me on how to get to your residence.

Visit#2: During this visit, we will be practicing specific comfort techniques and tools that may be used during labor and discussing your finalized birth plan.

Labor Support for the Birth
Jobs I will be performing at each birth besides supporting the laboring mother include but are not limited to: preparing/retrieving ice chips, running bath water for mother, fielding phone calls, preparing/retrieving towels, massaging father’s shoulders, assisting father, photographing/video taping, acting a liaison between medical attendants and laboring couple, keeping visitors to a minimum (and only those authorized by the couple to enter) and informing the family of progress of birth process.

Postpartum Visit
This visit will be made in the first 24-48 hours following the arrival of the mother at her home. It’s purpose is to check on breastfeeding progress and determine what other services are needed at home (if any). I will also bring either the ingredients for a complete meal or a gift card to a local restaurant with delivery services, whichever your family chooses.

Telephone contact
I am on call for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from two weeks prior to your due date through two weeks after your delivery.

I charge $525 for the services outlined above. The first payment of $262.50 is due when we sign the contract for services. The balance ($262.50) is due two weeks prior to your delivery date.
